I’ve been mistaken for being Igbo on several occasions. Once, I was even speaking to someone in Igbo, and they were surprised to learn that I wasn’t actually Igbo.

Of course, not everyone mistakes me for being Igbo. Some people have thought I’m Yoruba, Hausa, or even from a different country altogether.

I think it’s interesting that people’s assumptions about my tribe are often based on my physical appearance. It shows that there are certain stereotypes about what people from different tribes look like.
