Unknown gunmen targeted a police patrol team in the Ngbo-Effium area of Ohaukwu Local Government Area in Ebonyi, resulting in the death of one police officer and injuries to another.
The incident occurred on Thursday.
The Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, Joshua Ukandu, confirmed the attack, stating that the police patrol team was ambushed by armed individuals using an ash-colored Toyota Sienna with an unknown registration number.
The officers engaged the attackers in a gun fight.
The injured police officer is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
